The Florence RedWolves have named Ryan Anderson pitching coach and have signed infielder/outfielder John Frost and outfielder Shane Brown.

Anderson is an assistant at Georgetown College in Kentucky. Frost is a freshman at Alabama-Birmingham and Brown is a redshirt sophomore at UNC Charlotte.

Brown played for the Lake Norman Copperheads of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League last summer. He led the Copperheads with a .361 average and .451 on-base percentage.

In 36 starts for Charlotte, Brown batted .355, including a 13-game hitting streak. He also stole 10 bases in 12 attempts.

“Shane has shown that he can be a dynamic, top-of-the-order player,”  RedWolves coach Russell Carter said. “His ability to get on base and create some offense with his legs is certainly one of his strengths.”

Frost was a first team Class 5A all-state selection after batting .420 with six home runs and 46 RBI as a sophomore at Decatur (Ala.) High School in 2007.

In 2008, Frost hit .457 with eight homers and 36 RBI for Decatur High while being named an Under Armour All-American and an East-West All-Star.

“John will bring right-handed power and versatility to our lineup, with the ability to play third, first and the corner outfield spots if necessary,” Carter said.
