The Florence RedWolves got seven solid innings from Alex Kreis en route to a 5-2 Coastal Plain League win over the Columbia Blowfish on Sunday. Kreis (4-1) gave up three hits, two runs, walked four and struck out six.
Florence’s Sam O’Neill pitched a scoreless eighth inning, striking out one. Jacob Smith worked a scoreless ninth for his second save. He gave up a hit and struck out one. Florence pushed across two runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The RedWolves put runners at second and third when Ronnie Freeman was hit by a pitch and Seth Neely doubled to center field.
A wild pitch scored Freeman to tie it 2-2 and moved Neely to third. Neely then scored on a passed ball for the 3-2 lead. Stephen Carmon finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead Florence at the plate. Trey Hernandez was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
On Saturday night, the RedWolves were beaten 7-1 by the Edenton Steamers. Cash Collins (2-1) worked five innings in taking the loss. He gave up 12 hits, six runs, walked one and struck out two. Ethan Santora was 3-for-4 at the plate for Florence. Hernandez was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Carmon finished 2-for-4.
