RedWolves rally to snap losing streak

The Florence RedWolves defeated the Macon Bacon 5-4 on Saturday night at Luther Williams Field to snap their three-game losing streak.

Florence trailed 3-0 entering the fourth inning, but then McLendon Sears (College of Charleston) doubled to score Jacob Greene (Emory) and John Ricotta (Ball State) to cut the lead to 3-2.

After Macon added another run in the bottom of the fourth, the RedWolves' offense would answer in a big way in the fifth. Griffin Hulecki (Ball State) would single home Patrick Causa (Mount Saint Mary's) to cut the lead to 4-3. Then Hulecki and Ricotta would both come around to score on a two-run single by Greene to give the RedWolves the 5-4 lead.

Jackson Svete (LIU-Brooklyn) would enter in relief for the RedWolves and toss four shutout innings only allowing two hits and one walk while striking out four in route to earning the victory.

Luke Sommerfeld would enter in the ninth inning and shut the door for the RedWolves by throwing a scoreless ninth only allowing, one hit and striking out two to pick up the save.

The RedWolves (3-4) will get a much needed off day on Sunday before hitting the road on Monday to take on Asheboro.

The RedWolves will return home on Tuesday, June 12 to take on the Lexington County Blowfish in a double header. Tuesday night will be a t-shirt giveaway sponsored by Tidal Wave Auto Spa.

Tuesday will also be the debut of the LocalMotive specialty jersey the RedWolves will wear every game against the Blowfish.

Gates will open at 5 pm for the double header, and the first game will start at 6 pm.
