The Florence RedWolves out slugged the Savannah Bananas in route to a 6-5 win on Friday night at Grayson Stadium.

The RedWolves pushed their early lead out to 4-1 lead in the third inning when Joe Simone (Rider) doubled home Patrick Causa (Mount Saint Mary's) and Ben Peden (The Citadel).

Savannah would get back within run after a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth, but Florence would answer in the top of the seventh when Peden doubled home McLendon Sears (College of Charleston) and Chris Botsoe (Eastern Kentucky).

The Bananas would get two more back in the eighth inning, but that is the closest they would come to tying the game, as Luke Sommerfeld (Saint Louis) would come in and get the final five outs of the game to secure the win.

Kris Kuhn (College of Charleston) would pick up the win tossing 5.1 innings, and Sommerfeld picked up the save tossing a 1.1 with two strikeouts and started the game ending 1-6-3 double play.

The RedWolves (6-6) will now hit the road again on Saturday to face the Lexington County Blowfish before returning home on Monday for another showdown with the Blowfish.

Monday's home game will be Miracle League night with the first 300 fans getting a RedWolves fan.
