RedWolves beat the Bananas

The Florence RedWolves defeat the Savannah Bananas 8-1 on Friday night at Sparrow Stadium.


The RedWolves offense came out swinging and put up four runs in the first inning against the Bananas. The offensive outburst was highlighted by new comer Lenny Gonzalez's RBI single. 


The RedWolves would keep it going in the second inning scoring twice on Patrick Causa's (Mount Saint Mary's) RBI ground out and Griffin Hulecki's (Ball State) RBI single to make it 6-1.


Florence would score once in the fourth and fifth respectively to go on to win 8-1.


Jonathan Hughes (Georgia Tech) would cruise from there to pick up the victory after tossing 6 innings allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out five. 


Jackson Svete (LIU-Brooklyn) would pick up the extended save tossing three shutout innings allowing just two hits.


Chris Botsoe (Eastern Kentucky) highlighted the offensive outburst by going 3 for 4 with a single, double and triple while also working a walk.


The RedWolves (10-8) will hit the road Saturday to take on the Macon Bacon before a rematch with the Savannah Bananas on Sunday in Savannah.
