RedWolves use three-run fourth to down Bananas

The Florence RedWolves score five times in three innings to defeat the Savannah Bananas 5-3 on Thursday night at Sparrow Stadium. 


The Florence RedWolves took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Greg Vaughn (LIU-Brooklyn) doubled home Patrick Causa (Mount Saint Mary's). 


The RedWolves would push retake the lead in the bottom half of the third after Savannah tied it in the top half of the inning when Griffin Hulecki (Ball State) hit a sac-fly to score Chris Botsoe (Eastern Kentucky) to make it 2-1.


Florence would add to their lead with three runs in the fourth capped off by Botsoe singling home McLendon Sears (College of Charleston) to give the RedWolves the 5-1 lead.


Jackson Svete (LIU-Brooklyn) would get the win after all the run support by firing 6 innings allowing just two runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out four.


Jonathan Hughes (Georgia Tech) would pick up the extended save by tossing 3 innings allowing one unearned run on one hit and striking out two.


The RedWolves (12-10) will hit the road on Friday to take on the Wilmington Sharks before returning home for Superhero Night on Saturday against the Macon Bacon.
