RedWolves use dominant pitching to sink Sharks

The Florence RedWolves used dominant pitching and timely hitting to beat the Wilmington Sharks 2-0 on Friday night at Legion Park.

The RedWolves offense was held in check for the first five innings, but that would all change in the sixth inning when Joe Simone (Rider) doubled to right center to score Patrick Causa (Mount Saint Mary's) and Griffin Hulecki (Ball State).

That was all the Florence arms would need as Michael Kuypers (Mount Saint Mary's) and Joshua Plummer (Tennessee) would combine to toss nine shutout innings.

Kuypers would picked up the win throwing 7 scoreless frames allowing just five hits and one walk while striking out six.

Plummer would pick up the save tossing 2 scoreless innings allowing just one hit while striking out three.

Causa paced the RedWolves offense going 3 for 4 with a double and a run scored.

The RedWolves (13-10) will return home to take on the Macon Bacon on Saturday night.

Saturday will be superhero night at Sparrow Stadium. Come dressed as your favorite superhero and help us fight off the greasy Bacon.

Gates open at 6 pm, and first pitch is scheduled for 7 pm.
