RedWolves drop a tough one to Bacon

The Florence RedWolves offense fall short in 6-2 loss to the Macon Bacon on Thursday night at Sparrow Stadium.

The RedWolves tied the game in the second inning when McLendon Sears (College of Charleston) reached on an error that allowed Ben Peden (The Citadel) to score.

The RedWolves would then take the lead when Peden doubled home Griffin Hulecki (Ball State) to make the score 2-1.

But that is all the Florence offense could muster the rest of the night as Macon would score two in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the eighth to go on and win 6-2.

Michael Kuypers (Mount Saint Mary's) took the loss tossing 5.1 innings allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out two.

Peden paced the Florence offense going 3 for 4 with an RBI double and a run scored.

Florence (15-12) will return home on Friday to take on the Lexington County Blowfish at Sparrow Stadium.

It will be Feed Our Children Friday with gates opening at 6 pm and first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
