The RedWolves bats go quiet in the final four innings in road loss at Peninsula on Saturday night.
The RedWolves (1-3)(15-13) would take an early 2-0 lead in the Top of the 3rd Inning after an RBI single by Griffin Hulecki (Ball State) would score Patrick Causa (Mt. Saint Mary's). Joe Simone (Rider) would then score off an RBI fielder's choice by Chris Botsoe (Eastern Kentucky).
Simone lead the way hitting for the RedWolves, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
The Peninsula Pilots (3-2)(20-10) would answer right back with two runs of their own in the Bottom of the 3rd with an RBI single by Cole Girourd (Lamar) and a bases loaded walk drawn by Cole Prestegard (Troy) to tie the game back up 2-2.
Girourd would get another RBI single in the Bottom of the 4th, followed by a double steal by Girourd and Kyle Butler (Radford) to put the Pilots ahead 4-2.
The RedWolves and Pilots would combine for just one hit in the final four innings of the game.
Joshua Plummer (Tennessee) would get the loss for Florence, going 4.0 innings, allowing four runs off of six hits and tossing three walks and one strikeout. Jacob Grenus (Lincoln Memorial) would finish the game for the RedWolves, going 4.0 innings allowing no runs or hits, tossing one walk and five strikeouts.
Austin Krizan (Southern Indiana) would start the game for Peninsula, going 4.2 innings, allowing two runs off of six hits, tossing four walks and seven strikeouts.
The rest of the pitching staff for Peninsula would allow zero RedWolves hits.
Ryan Fox (VCU) would get the win, going 1.1 innings and throwing two strikeouts. Tyler Garbee (Mercyhurst) would go two innings throwing two strikeouts, while Jackson Wark (St. Louis) would close out the game for Peninsula, going one inning and also tossing two strikeouts.
The RedWolves will have a few days off for the 2018 CPL All Star Show in Lexington, South Carolina. Patrick Causa, Kris Kuhn, Michael Kuypers and Joe Simone will participate in the game at Lexington County Baseball Stadium on July 9 at 7:35 PM.
The RedWolves will be back home on July 11 against Lexington County. Fans will have a chance to throw it and win it for an area rug courtesy of Ashley and Parrott Furniture. Gates open at 6:00 PM with first pitch set for 7:00 PM.
