Lee tosses seven scoreless, as RedWolves blank blowfish

Jimmy Farmer

The Florence RedWolves used just three pitchers in two hours to defeat the Lexington County Blowfish 3-0 on Wednesday night at Sparrow Stadium.

Colby Lee was dominant on the mound for the RedWolves tossing 7 shutout innings giving up just two hits and striking out eight to earn the victory in his best outing as a RedWolf.

The offense gave Lee all the support he needed in the fifth inning when the Blowfish threw away the Kyle Gensler (Charlotte) bunt single that allowed Lenny Gonzalez (Francis Marion) and Bryson Smith (Texas) to score and make it 2-0.

The RedWolves would add another run later in the inning when Griffin Hulecki (Ball State) singled home Gensler to make it 3-0 behind a spectacular Lee.

Joshua Plummer (Tennessee) would pick up the hold after tossing a scoreless eighth while striking out two, and Luke Sommerfeld (Saint Louis) would toss a scoreless ninth to pick up the save.

The RedWolves (16-13) will return home on Thursday night to take the Savannah Bananas at Sparrow Stadium.

Thursday will be Host Family appreciation night and the Pepsi Game of the Week.

Gates Thursday will open at 6 pm and first pitch 7 pm.
