Kuhn slices up Bananas in complete game victory

The Florence RedWolves backed the strong pitching of Kris Kuhn with two big offensive innings in the 7-1 victory over the Savannah Bananas on Saturday night at Sparrow Stadium.

Kuhn (College of Charleston) gave the RedWolves all they could ask for by firing a complete game allowing just one run on three hits while striking out eight to pick up his third win of the season.

The offense gave Kuhn all the support he needed when they exploded for three runs in the third inning on Chris Botsoe's (Eastern Kentucky) two run single and Ben Peden's (The Citadel) RBI ground out.

The offense continued to pour it on in the seventh when Peden singled home Joe Simone (Rider), Lenny Gonzalez (Francis Marion) singled home Peden and Brody Gibson (Oral Roberts) singled home Gonzalez to make it 7-1.

The RedWolves (17-16) will have Sunday off before returning to action on Monday against the Wilmington Sharks at Sparrow Stadium.

Monday will be Faith and Family night in Florence with gates opening at 6 pm and first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
