RedWolves offense take a bit out of Sharks pitching in win

After a frustrating week of close losses, the Florence RedWolves offense would take out the team frustrations on the Wilmington Sharks pitching in route to defeating the Sharks 11-3 on Saturday night at Sparrow Stadium.

The RedWolves trailed 1-0 headed into the bottom of the second inning, but the RedWolves would take the lead when Bryson Smith (Texas) lined a two-run single into center.

After the Sharks retied the game, Florence would answer in a big way with a four run third inning highlighted by Chris Botsoe's (Eastern Kentucky) two-run double and McLendon Sears (College of Charleston) two-run home run to give the RedWolves a 6-2 lead.

The RedWolves offense would all but put the game away in the bottom of the fifth when they struck for five run highlighted by Brody Gibson's (Oral Roberts) RBI single and Joe Simone's (Rider) two-run double to make it 11-2.

That is all the offense Amos Willingham (Georgia Tech) would need as he picked up the win tossing 6 innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out five.

Jack Henry Beasley (The Citadel) would pick up the extended save tossing three shutout innings allowing just one hit while striking out two.

The RedWolves (18-20) will have Sunday off before hitting the road on Monday to take on the Savannah Bananas.
