RedWolves drop a close one to Blowfish

RedWolves drop a close one to Blowfish

Jimmy Farmer

The Florence RedWolves fall 2-1 to the Lexington County Blowfish on Tuesday night at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

The Blowfish grabbed the early lead by scoring a run in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to make it 2-0 Lexington.

The RedWolves would answer back in the top of the eighth when Chris Botsoe (Eastern Kentucky) reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Griffin Hulecki (Ball State) to score and trim the lead to 2-1.

But that is all the closer the Blowfish would get, as the RedWolves go down in order in the ninth.

Hulecki paced the RedWolves offense going 2-4 with a run scored. Joe Simone (Rider) also went 2-4 with a double.

Johnathan Hughes (Georgia Tech) took the loss tossing 8 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out seven.

The RedWolves (18-22) will return home on Wednesday to take on the Lexington County Blowfish in a double header.

Wednesday home double header will be Christmas in July night as well as host family appreciation night. The host family recognition ceremony will take place in between the two games.

Gates open at 5 pm with the first game starting at 6 pm.
