RedWolves season ends with a close loss to Bananas

The Florence RedWolves fell to the Savannah Bananas 2-1 on Saturday night at Grayson Stadium to end their season.

The RedWolves jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Griffin Hulecki (Ball State) scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first.

Savannah would strike back with a run of its own in the bottom of the second to tie the game at one a piece.

The game would stay tied until the bottom of the fifth when the Bananas hit a solo home run to take the 2-1 lead.

Florence would threaten with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, but an inning ending double play would stop the rally.

The RedWolves would threaten once more in the ninth inning with runners on first and second with one out, but a fly out and strike out would end the game.

Mark Leonard (Tennessee Tech) would get the start and take the loss for the RedWolves after tossing 6 innings giving up two runs on five hits while striking out three.

Florence's offense was led by Brody Gibson (Oral Roberts) who went 2 for 4.

The RedWolves (22-26) season ends with the loss as the Macon Bacon clinch the final playoff spot in the CPL South.
