The Florence RedWolves fell 11-6 to the Lexington County Blowfish on Thursday night at Sparrow Stadium.
The Blowfish (2-3) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after putting up two runs in both the first and second inning.
The RedWolves (2-5) would answer back with a huge second inning. Zach Durfee (Siena) doubled to start the inning and then scored on an error that allowed Joe Weisenseel (Ohio) to reach base. Weisenseel and Jake Swartz (Duke) would score on a Eldirge Figueroa (Arkansas Little Rock) triple to make it 4-3.
Figueroa would score on a sac fly by Grey Epps (Southern Illinois) to tie the game. Florence would keep the scoring going in the inning as JT Weber (Southern Illinois) and Michael Richardson (Ohio) would both single and later score on singles by Austin Ulick (Southern Illinois) and Durfee to make it 6-4 RedWolves.
The Blowfish would answer back with a three run fourth to take the lead, and they would add on with one in the fifth and three in the ninth to go on and win 11-6.
Zach Rice (West Chester) would get the start for the RedWolves and the loss going 3.2 innings allowing seven runs on five hits while walking four and striking out two.
Richardson would lead the RedWolves offense with three hits in the loss.
The RedWolves will return home on Friday June 7, 2019 to take on the Savannah Bananas.
Friday will be Autism Awareness night, as all fans are asked to wear blue in support of Autism awareness. The players will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to support All for Autism.
Friday will also be the Pepsi game of the week with gates opening at 6 pm and first pitch at 7 pm.
