RedWolves fall to Owls

The Florence RedWolves fell 13-2 to the Forest City Owls on Monday night at McNair Field.

 

The RedWolves (2-6) started fast when Grey Epps (Southern Illinois) singled home Eldrige Figueroa (Arkansas Little Rock) in the top of the first to make it 1-0 Florence.

 

But the Owls (3-4) would strike back with four runs in the bottom of the first. 

 

Florence would cut into the lead when Reid Hardwick (Charleston Southern) doubled home Zach Durfee (Siena) in the second to make it 4-2. Owls in the second. 

 

The Owls would respond with one in the second and add on with two in the fourth, four in the fifth and two in the eighth to win 13-2. 

 

Robin Allen (Eckerd College) got the start and took the loss for the RedWolves after going 3.1 innings allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits while walking five and striking out five. 

 

Epps and Hardwick led the Florence offense with two hits apiece. 

 

The RedWolves will head home on Tuesday for a match up with the Gastonia Grizzlies. It will be Donut Night presented by Krispy Kreme, and the first 500 fans will receive a free coupon for a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. 

 

Gates open at 6 pm with first pitch at 7 pm.
