RedWolves split double header with Blowfish

The Florence RedWolves split the double header with the Lexington County Blowfish on Tuesday night winning game one 9-7 before falling 9-5 in game two at Lexington County Baseball Stadium. 


In game one, the RedWolves (10-12) grabbed an early lead in the bottom of the second on a Mitch Barrow (Indiana State) solo home run. 


The Blowfish (6-13) would answer back in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own. Lexington County would add on with four in the third to make it 6-1. 


Florence would answer back with three in the top of the fourth when Miguel Soto (Arkansas Little Rock) homered to plate JT Weber (Southern Illinois) and Barrow to make it 6-4 Blowfish. 


The Blowfish would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-4. 


The score would stay that way until the top of the seventh when John Michael Carter (Coastal Carolina) scored on an error to make it 7-5. 


Then Barrow would show off his power again with a grand slam to make it 9-7 Florence. 


Jared Lembcke (North Greenville) tossed a scoreless ninth to pick up the save. 


Duncan Callahan (North Greenville) got the win in relief for the RedWolves tossing three innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out two. 


In game two, the RedWolves would again strike first when Weber tripled home Joe Weisenseel (Ohio) and Reid Hardwick (Charleston Southern) before scoring himself on a Michael Richardson (Ohio) single to make it 3-0. 


The Blowfish however would answer with two in the bottom of the first before taking the lead with four in the second. 


Lexington County would continue to add on in the game scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth and once in the bottom of the fifth. 


The RedWolves would add runs in the top of fourth when Weisenseel doubled home Nathan Medrano (St. Edwards) and another in the top of the sixth when Medrano scored on an error, but that is all they could muster the rest of the game as Lexington County won 9-5.


Ryan Huffman (VMI) got the start and the loss in game two tossing 3.2 innings allowing eight runs (six earned) on seven hits while striking out two. 


The RedWolves will hit the road on Wednesday to take on the Savannah Bananas before returning home on Thursday for a match up with the Bananas. 


Thursday will be Thirsty Thursday featuring the return of $1 draft beer and it will be Tidal Wave t-shirt giveaway night. 


Gates on Thursday open at 6 pm with first pitch at 7 pm.
