The Florence RedWolves fell to the Savannah Bananas 8-5 on Monday night at Sparrow Stadium.
The Bananas (18-8) took the lead with two in the top of the second.
RedWolves (11-17) answered back with four in the bottom half of the second. It all started when Jon Mitchell Carter (Coastal Carolina) doubled home Brandon McIlwain (California) followed by a two-run double by Nathan Medrano (St. Edwards). Eldrige Figueroa (Arkansas Little Rock) would then single home Medrano to make it 4-2.
Bananas would answer with three in the top of the third to retake the lead. Savannah would then add on with a run in the top of the fifth
Florence would respond with a run in the bottom of the fifth when Kenny Piper (Columbia College) singled home Figueroa to make it 6-5.
That is all the closer Florence would get as Savannah would score two in the seventh to win 8-5.
AG Yowell (UTSA) took the loss for the RedWolves going three innings allowing five runs on seven hits.
Carter, Medrano and Figueroa all lead the RedWolves with two hits each.
The RedWolves will return home Wednesday to take on the Wilson Tobs. Wednesday will be the Spirit of Florence Celebration with gates opening at 5 pm. There will be a pregame concert and military remembrance ceremony.
First pitch will be at 7 pm with a patriotic jersey being auctioned off during the game and postgame fireworks.
