The Florence RedWolves defeat the Wilson Tobs 9-3 on Wednesday night at Sparrow Stadium.
The Tobs (15-12) took the lead in top of first with an unearned run.
The RedWolves (12-17) would respond with four in the second. The scoring started after Michael Richardson (Ohio) grounded out to score JT Weber (Southern Illinois) after Weber tripled to lead off the inning. The scoring would continue when Wilson committed three straight errors that allowed Brandon McIlwain (California) and Grey Epps (Southern Illinois) to score and Lex Tuten (North Greenville) to reach base. Tuten would score on Eldrige Figueroa (Arkansas Little Rock) fielder's choice to complete the four-run outburst.
Florence would continue to score in the bottom of the third when Richardson doubled home Kenny Piper (Columbia College) and Zach Durfee (Siena) to make it 6-1.
The game would stay at that score until Wilson added two in the top of the sixth.
The RedWolves would add on three in the seventh. McIlwain doubled home Piper and Durfee and then Weber scored on a Epps groundout to make it 9-3 RedWolves.
Zach Reid (West Virginia) would get the win after tossing 2.1 innings of relief allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out three.
Weber and McIlwain each had two hits to lead the Florence offense.
The RedWolves will have Thursday off before hitting the road on Friday to take on the Savannah Bananas.
Florence will return to Sparrow Stadium on Saturday to take on the Lexington County Blowfish. It will be Stadium Cup giveaway night with gates opening at 6 pm and first pitch at 7 pm.
