White’s strong start and Barrow’s big night guide RedWolves to win

The Florence RedWolves defeat the Fayetteville SwampDogs 5-3 on Wednesday night at The Swamp.

 

The RedWolves took the lead in the top of the second when Grey Epps (Southern Illinois) scored on a wild pitch.

 

Mitch Barrow (Indiana State) singled home Kenny Piper (Columbia College) in the top of the fifth to increase the RedWolves lead to 2-0.

 

Barrow increase the RedWolves lead again when he launched a solo homer in the top of the seventh to make it 3-0 Florence.

 

The SwampDogs finally broke the shutout with a run in the bottom half of the seventh.

 

Florence would answer when Eldrige Figueroa (Arkansas Little Rock) singled home Lex Tuten (North Greenville) in the eight and again in the ninth when JT Weber (Southern Illinois) hit a sac fly that scored Brandon McIlwain (Cal) to make it 5-1 RedWolves.

 

Fayetteville would add two in the ninth but would come up short 5-3.

 

Barrow finished the night 4-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBI.

 

Parker White (Nicholls State) got the start and win after tossing 7.1 innings allowing one unearned run on three hits while striking out five.

 

Brett Manis (Ohio) picked up the save going 1.2 allowing two runs on three hits while striking out one.

 

The RedWolves will return home on Thursday to take on the Lexington County Blowfish. It will be Thirsty Thursday.

 

Gates open at 6 pm with first pitch at 7 pm.
