RedWolves fall to Bacon

RedWolves fall to Bacon

The Florence RedWolves lost 6-1 to the Macon Bacon on Wednesday night at Luther Williams Field.

The Bacon would score once in the first, once in the second, three in the fifth and once in the eighth to lead 6-0 heading into the ninth.

The RedWolves would try to mount a comeback when Lenny Gonzales (Francis Marion) scored on a fielder's choice to break the shutout, but that is all the RedWolves could muster.

Zach Stephenson (Northern Oklahoma) got the start and took the loss for the RedWolves allowing five runs over five innings while striking out one.

Gonzales and Zach Durfee (Siena) each had two hits in the game accounting for all four of Florence's hits.

The RedWolves left eight men on base in the loss.

With the loss Florence falls to 1.5 back of Macon for first place in the 2ndhalf in the CPL South.

The RedWolves will return home on Thursday to take on the Macon Bacon in a double header. It is Christmas in July night, bring an unwrapped gift or toy to donate to Toys for Tots and receive a free ticket voucher for a future home game.

It will also be Thirsty Thursday with $1 beer.

Gates will open at 5 pm with first pitch of game one at 6 pm.
