The Florence RedWolves defeat the Lexington County Blowfish 7-5 in a weather shortened 7 innings on Saturday night at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The RedWolves found themselves down 4-0 in the top of the fourth, when Lex Tuten (North Greenville) hit a solo homer to get the scoring starting for Florence. His homer was followed by a Kenny Piper (Columbia College) single that plated Lenny Gonzales (Francis Marion) to cut Blowfish lead in half to 4-2.
Gonzales would cut further into the lead in the top of the sixth when he singled home Isaac Raab (St. Clair CC). Gonzales would come home on a Piper two run homer later in the inning to give the RedWolves the 5-4 advantage.
Florence would add on in the top of the seventh when Zach Durfee (Siena) scored on a Tuten groundout followed by Patrick Baggett (Florence Darlington Tech) coming home on a Raab single to make it 7-4.
With storms approaching the area, both teams decided that the bottom half of the seventh would be the last half inning. The Blowfish would score one to get a run closer, but still fell short by a final of 7-5.
AG Yowell (UTSA) picked up the win tossing two scoreless innings of relief while striking out two. Duncan Callahan (North Greenville) struck out the final batter of the game to pick up the save.
Raab led the offense with three hits while Piper drove in three on the night.
With the win, the RedWolves finish the season 10-3 against Blowfish to win the I-20 Rivalry Series trophy.
